The Overwatch Gang gets Googly-eyed Over April Fools’ Day

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s April 1, 2020, and that means everyone has some jokes. Obviously, considering the current circumstances, a lot of folks out there aren’t too keen on playing along. That said, a few are still going forward with gags, but many of this year’s have been more on the wholesome and silly side. (I’ve been enjoying going on walkies in Dragalia Lost today.) But if Overwatch is more your speed, then this year’s gag is good for a laugh or two. If you play Overwatch for April Fools’ Day 2020, you won’t be able to look any character in the eyes and maintain a straight face.

That’s because literally every character in Overwatch has googly eyes right now. Huge, realistically functioning googly eyes. Some of the side characters, such as BOB the robot butler, aren’t as kitted out as they could be. Also, the characters with eyepatches are respectfully monogoogly, and even Hanzo’s annoying dragon is playing along. It’s a pretty extensive application for such a silly thing, and it’s funny every time you pay attention to it.

Not only are the googly eyes applied during regular gameplay, but you can also check them out in other ways. In Overwatch‘s model viewer, for example, you can get as googly as you want from multiple angles. You can also check out your play of the round replays in full, googly glory. Overwatch googly eyes won’t stick around for long, so don’t miss the chance to see it for yourself today.

Here’s a video showing the effect off.

Overwatch is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

To get on his good side, say nice things about Dragon Quest and Musou. Never mention the Devil May Cry reboot in his presence. Backed Bloodstained on Kickstarter but all his opinions on it are correct regardless.
