m HOLD’EM launched in Japan in July 2021. The game is a spin on traditional Texas Hold ’em, featuring artwork from popular illustrators along with characters and voice actors from anime, manga, and video games. Sammy intended for the game to help Japan become more involved in esports, with the championship prize pool sitting at 1 million yen and the finals offering well over 3 million yen to the winner. The game is free-to-play and holds qualifiers for its live events.

Sega Sammy Holdings was formed in 2004 after the merger of Sega with amusement company Sammy. In May, the company announced that Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona, two flagship franchises, has sold over 7.4 million copies during the 2020 fiscal year.

The Persona 5 Royal Poker collaboration with m HOLD’EM will run from December 6, 2021 until December 19, 2021.
