Sega revealed today that one of the new elements in Puyo Puyo eSports is that it’s now easier to tell who’s in the lead, as well as an introduction to some of the appearing cast. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
This change was made to make the process of playing Puyo Puyo more transparent to the eSports audience, and basically what this entails is that there are new visual and numerical indicators on the side, as well as character graphics on the top. These changes will take effect whenever offsetting garbage Puyo occurs.
Several of the characters were also introduced, as well as their Puyo patterns:
Rulue
Character type: Large chaining
Puyo pattern:
Schezo
Character type: Large chaining with own Puyo
Puyo pattern:
Sig
Character type: Counter during Fever
Puyo pattern:
Maguro
Character type: Harassment
Puyo pattern:
Suketoudara
Character type: Counter during Fever
Puyo pattern:
Puyo Puyo eSports releases in Japan on October 25, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It’ll be available exclusively as a digital title for 1,990 yen.
