S.H.M.U.P – A Casual Shoot-em-up

Recommended Videos

Indie developer Aaron Styles’ game was nominated amongst the finalists at GDC China’s Independent Games Festival contest. The title, aptly named S.H.M.U.P, is pretty much what it sounds.

The catch is that S.H.M.U.P. features Twitter integration — a feature that Styles added before it was announced in any commercial games — and allows for extensive modding. It’s also less hardcore than your average shoot-em-up, as Styles describes it as a "Side scrolling shooter that doesn’t need pixel perfect positioning, lightening reflexes or for you to remember bullet patterns."

The game is still a work-in-progress, and Styles has recently been considering implementing procedurally-generated levels. In the mean time, you can grab a demo here if you’re curious.
