Should You Buy the Artist Oskar Fevras in Baldur’s Gate 3?

One of the weirdest side quests you can find in Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1 has to do with the artist Oskar Fevras. You can find this artist in the Zhentarim Hideout as a prisoner. The only way to free him in the “Free the Artist” side quest is to purchase him from the outlaws there.

Unfortunately, if you want to buy the artist Oskar Fevras in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll have to pay upwards of a hefty sum of around 1,200 gold. You can haggle with the owner of the artist to intimidate or persuade and possibly lower that price to around 600 gold.

However, the cost doesn’t stop there, as Oskar will require an additional 200 gold after you free him to pay for his travels to the city of Baldur’s Gate. But should you free him, especially considering how limited your gold will be in Act 1?

What the Artist Oskar Fevras Does for You in Baldur’s Gate 3

I do think you should always buy and free Oskar Fevras in Baldur’s Gate 3. Though it is a steep price to get him, it is possible to work for the Zhentarim gang and earn some gold that way. In addition, setting him free opens up the way for some awesome quests in Act 3.

Once you reach Act 3 and the Lower City in Baldur’s Gate, you can meet back up with Oskar and deal with the remainder of the “Free the Artist” storyline. You can earn a lot of experience, some valuable items, and plenty of rewards if you do this quest.

However, you can only do all this if you purchase Oskar and free him in the first place. Fortunately, if you don’t have the gold to spare when you first meet him, you can always come back and free him later.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PC and PlayStation 5.
