Moon Hunters, a pixel-art RPG that began via the Square Enix Collective indie initiative is launching its crowdfunding campaign next week. The Moon Hunters crowdfunding effort will go live on Kickstarter on August 26th.
The Square Enix Collective platform is an indie funding initiative whereby indie developers pitch their games to fans, who then vote on whether or not the game sounds interesting enough to enter the crowdfunding phase. Should a game get enough votes, a crowdfunding campaign for the title is launched.
Square Enix themselves personally provide advice, production and marketing assistance to games that are launched via their Collective website. The publisher has even committed to making certain dormant I.P. from their Western portfolio available to developers to experiment with.
Moon Hunters was posted on the Collective program in January this year, along with a few other titles. The game will contain a procedurally generated world with a number of different locations to explore, and will feature combat inspired by The Legend of Zelda, along with a day-and-night cycle.
Moon Hunters is being developed by Kitfox, and will ask for $45,000 in contributions when its Kickstarter campaign goes live.
