Swery’s The Good Life Update Reveals New Hero Statues

Hidetaka “Swery” Suihiro and White Owls shared an update detailing new in-game objects for The Good Life on its Kickstarter page. These objects are called Hero Statues and are based on real people.

Overall, there are five statues for players to discover. They will be based on developers, as well as backers, “who contributed a great deal to the crowdfunding campaign.” The statues were modeled based on photo and videos that backers submitted. The update also mentioned, “whenever you manage to find a hero statue along your adventures, be sure to stop and take a picture.” In The Good Life, players control Naomi, a photographer formerly from New York who is finding subjects and taking pictures in Rainy Woods in order to pay off a substantial debt. Taking pictures will reward the players with points.

Players will also be able to transform into animals in The Good Life, as one of the town’s mysteries involves why people turn into cats and dogs. When Naomi becomes a dog, for example, players can track down other characters by memorizing character scents, as an example. Characters in the game have daily schedules, and the ability to track them might be useful for completing quests. Interacting with and as animals appears to be a common element in the game, as a recent video also depicted characters riding sheep.

Swery’s The Good Life is expected to debut on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in Summer 2021. A music video for the game, entitled “The Good Life,” was released as part of the September 25, 2020 Kickstarter update. It is performed by the band The Bad Lives.
