The ESA Says E3 2020 Planning Is ‘on Track’

With many events and activities being canceled or postponed due to concerns about the coronavirus, such as GDC 2020 and both NieR and Final Fantasy XIV concerts, people might wonder if other conventions could be considering alternate plans. The Entertainment Software Association has issued a statement to Vice Games noting that there are no current plans to postpone or cancel E3 2020 due to the coronavirus. However, the board is monitoring the situation.

Here is the official statement the ESA provided regarding E3 2020 plans.

Everyone is watching the situation very closely. We will continue to be vigilant, as our first priority is the health, wellness and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning. Exhibit and registration sales are on track for an exciting show in June.

As for E3 2020 itself, there have already been some issues and concerns about this year’s event. In 2019, a security breach revealed the private information for 2,000 people who registered as media, though the ESA claimed it will employ better methods of protection for this year’s event. Sony once again confirmed it won’t attend, and part of the ESA’s hype building for this year’s convention mentioned things like “experiences” and “activations.”

E3 2020 will be held June 9-11, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
