Falcom shared the latest on the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of Ys VIII with some info on new content we’ll be seeing in Dana’s part of the story, which will get a new dungeon, style changes, and much more.
First, here’s a look at some more screenshots for the recently introduced new characters Io and Lastel, who will be appearing in the PS4 version of the game.
Io (CV: Aoi Yuki)
An innocent girl with light pink hair who shows up in front of Dana. She has a neat and clean appearance but imprudently speaks with an insolent tone at times and gets Dana into trouble. After Dana shows some interest in an underground cathedral located in the royal capital of Etania, she tags along to investigate, but…
Lastel (CV: Yuki Nagaku)
An honest and diligent young guard of the royal capital of Etania. He always looked up to his father, leader of the royal guards Doran, since he was a child, and trained in hopes of becoming a guard just like him one day. After growing older, he joined the royal guards with dreams of being Dana’s guard, but things take an unexpected turn.
The style change system is also something new on the PS4 version of the game, which you can read about in more detail in our earlier report. A new TV spot also just went up, giving us a look at Dana’s style changes.
The “Spirit Rescue” feature is another new one that’ll help power you up. You’ll find “Spirits” born from the power of nature and they’re trapped in different parts of the world. By finding and rescuing these Spirits, you’ll get various bonuses such as learning new styles, enhancements for styles, increase in Dana’s stats, and more.
And finally, the above is another look at the new “Underground Cathedral” dungeon that is being added to Dana’s part in the PS4 version of the game. This dungeon will have you go deeper as you advance through it, but you’ll also need to acquire “Virtue” stats with Dana to keep going, as some doors will only open when the requirement is met. You’ll get to raise the stat by clearing various quests in Dana’s part or by rescuing Spirits.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana releases in Japan on May 25 for PlayStation 4. The game is headed Westward for PS4 and PS Vita in Fall 2017.
