First screen shot of Metroid Prime 3?

By Spencer . April 22, 2006 . 10:10am

One of our readers sent this blurry photo of Metroid Prime 3 for the Revolution. Of course take this with a grain of salt, but it could be an early shot of Metroid Prime 3.  Any Photoshop experts want to clue us in if this is real or not?

Photoshop? I HIGHLY doubt the IMAGE is fake. Is the image on the screen real? That’s a whole other issue. To my eye it doesn’t look fake… It’s probably composed of a 3D scene with a graphic overlay. Someone spent alot of time constructing a fake blurry screen… which doesn’t seem too likely. It looks like a great deal of work would have to have been put into that for questionable results. I say all the content is real… is it REALLY Metroid Prime 3? That I can’t say… looks Metroid-ish… has the right effects… it would HELP credibility if the person bothered to get the famed revolution controller into the shot. Multiple Panasonic TV’s in the room. It’s a wierd room to have alot of TV’s and supposedly MP 3 and at least one Revolution… :\ I dunno. I guess it could just as easily be come kind of computer game mod… but again… alot of work to for a not so great image. COULD be a tester or even taken at a Nintendo location with said material on display somewhere private. Who knows? It’s be nice to have some concrete info.

.::: Fake. The arm-cannon design is the same as seen a few years back during the first beta-screenshots of the first Metroid Prime.

Lack of extra HUD information beyond the icons displayed is also dubious. Especially the Beam-icons. (Unless there’s a switch back to the complementary beam system of yore, but Retro isn’t very keen on it anyway.)

I agree with Cyhwuhx. I believe its defeinitely is fake. It looks like they’ve taken the boundaries of this image (a work in progress Metroid Prime Screenshot)

and super imposed it with another one.

First off, this screen doesn’t tell us anything — so who cares if it’s real? But, there is one differenc in the screen — the HUD has changed, ever so slightly. But, who knows…and who cares?
