Dreaming of the Devil: Devil May Cry Sins Remembered Director InterviewNext week in Atlanta R.L. Scott is hosting a movie premiere for Devil May Cry: Sins Remembered, a live action movie starring Dante and Lady. The movie doesn’t have backing by any major studio yet… Capcom is going to watch the screening on August 25 along with the rest of the world. Instead R.L. Scott and three of his other business partners financed the whole film out of their pockets. The group is hoping to use Devil May Cry: Sins Remembered as a promotional tool for Devil Hunters, another movie in the same genre. What’s Devil Hunters about and what is the inside scoop on “Devil May Cry: Sins Remembered?” read on to find out.

Dreaming of the Devil: Devil May Cry Sins Remembered Director InterviewDevil May Cry: Sins Remembered takes place somewhere between Devil May Cry 3 (the prequel) and Devil May Cry 1. “The story deals with the inner conflict of the characters. Lady is in search of her father for the death of her mother, she is very tough in this film. We see her transition from Mary to Lady. Arkham is obsessed with becoming all powerful and possessing the Sparda,” R.L. explains. So what about the rumors about a human Nelo and a little girl playing Trish? Those were just possibilities and not part of the final film, “I’ve been trying to set this straight for months… there is a discussion forum we have up called Devil May Cry the movie where several months ago I had a very well versed group of fans online that I posed several questions to. They didn’t know that they were a part of the creative process of building the storyline. There were two scenarios posted. In one thread the question was what do you think should be in the film, storyline and so on. The other was that there would be no Vergil, Trish would be a little girl, there would be werewolves and Nelo would be human. I wanted to get a genuine reaction from the fans about what they would love to see in the film and what they would never want to see in the film… I got exactly what I wanted from them.” One thing for sure is Vergil is in the movie along with Arkham, Trish, Mundus, Lady and of course Dante. How did the R.L. get the actors? “I held a casting call in Atlanta, and tons of people showed up… I didn’t realize that DMC had so many fans.” Out of all the hopefuls, Paul Watson, a martial artist and not guy from Greenpeace, got the role of Dante. Elizabeth Tavares is going to be Lady and Caple Davis plays Arkham. Other members of the cast include Greg Forman, Matt Vilichay and Kanya Jones. R.L. also promises plenty of action in the film. Tricks from the game are acted out with the help of a green screen and wires. Fans can look forward to a huge sword duel in the movie.

 

Dreaming of the Devil: Devil May Cry Sins Remembered Director InterviewWhile the focus has been on Devil May Cry, R.L.’s not so secret goal is to use this short film as a vehicle for Devil Hunter. R.L. hopes that the exposure from Devil May Cry: Sins Remembered will trickle into his other project. It’s a gutsy move, but R.L. explains, “in this business you have to be fully committed to reaching your goals, and determination goes a long way.”. R.L. didn’t want to reveal too much on Devil Hunter but this is what he could tell us and the world “It takes place in present time. The lead characters name is Christian and he is a direct descendant of Abraham ( the man who walked with God ).”

 

If you’re in Atlanta you can check out the premiere of Devil May Cry: Sins Remembered at the Cinefest theater 8:00PM EST. The rest of the world is going to have to wait for the DVD release, which we’ll give you guys more details about in the near future.

    wtf is wrong wit u ppl??? if they say the movie is set between dmc 3 n dmc 1… y the hell does it hv story elements that sound like the dmc 3 plot? and if its set btwn dmc 1 & 3 n there’s a nelo/nero in it, it cant be the dude from dmc 4, it’ll be nero angelo… who CANNOT be human as he is Virgil. And Trish a lil girl??? she’s a replica of dante’s mom, she wasnt grown from birth…. n wtf is she doin in the movie?!?! n whoever said owen wilson…. i cant even comment on that!!

    i honestly hv nuffin against indy flicks, but i’m gonna hv to hope for a hollywood produced DMC movie, cos even if they screw up the characterisation , hv a weak script, n poor actin at least there’ll be awesome effects… the kind needed for a dmc film!! dont get me wrong tho…. if a decent indy dmc is made with a great script, great characterisation n passable graphics i’ll be happy, but judgin from this…. i gotta say this will suck

    n jus cos they paid their own money into it dont mean they put they’re full commitment into it… they should only get the money back if the film is worth our attention!

    i hope the movie get really awesome i am waiting for dmc 4 this february 5 and a didn’t like the fact that nero will be the playable character of dmc 4 that will be plus but there are now more sharacters as long all devil may cry dante. nero, trich, virgil, etc… i hope you luck with the movie and make it really interesting and try to make the big coat of dante more the same

    You can’t have a devil may cry film with real actors, the movie would be ruined and the plot makes no sense at all, trish was created in dmc1, not before, and arkham is DEAD. Also, Nelonero angelo is vergil, tranformed into a demonic night by mudus, human nero doesn’t make sense

    i agree with crap that it should be animated like advent children, then it would look alot better than actual actors.. and since when was trish ever a little girl?? and nero a human?? thats retarded.. and owen wilson as dante?? that would ruin the whole movie lol

    I’ve never been much of a gamer (unless you count the Sims, which I wouldn’t), but my bro has grown up with games, I mean this dude lives and breathes games (he faithfully forces our parents to buy the NAG every month, and that’s not a cheap mag!) It’s in one of the latest mags that I saw the pic of Dante and Nero flashing their guns at one another. So I have a fetish with blondes with blue eyes, so screw me, I’m a sucker! As I was saying, however, my bro is like a wizz on games, and when I saw the Blood Rayne movie I was like, whoa! I want to check this out, and he said, DON’T. Said the director’s movies are crap (apparently he makes movies of the cool games and then just gives it a bad name). I’d have loved to watch a movie on DMC 4 (I watch the theatre trailers of the game with a bowl of popcorn, honestly!) But Hollywood does have a way of screwing things up. If you’re not familiar with the original material, you might see it differently and think its a kick-ass movie. But as I’m an avid reader (being transformed into an avid gamer >gulp< many movies have been a disappointment after reading the book. Example: Jurassic Park II – what the hell ever happened to the chameleon dinosaur? I was waiting for it through the whole movie! Another example : The ever popular Harry Potter series. I watch every movie, but lose interest half way through and fall asleep. The books, on the other hand, are way better! (Bet no one knew the original character Harry Potter has green eyes and is scrawny and small, instead of the handsome blue eyed stud in the movies?)
    Off the topic, sorry! Hollywood will mess it up – they’ll alter the plot, which is completely unnecessary because it’s brilliant the way it is. The storyline is strong and you can follow it easily. How about Bruce Willis to play Dante, anyone? Bah! RiDiCuLoUs. Better to leave the game to be a game – unless Capcom itself directs the movie, it will be worthwhile to see.
    Anyway. I have a theory. Nero was an orphan, right? He’s got the sparda blood or whatever it is again. Dante is the son of the knight Sparda. And he’s much older than Nero. Father and son, maybe?

    i believe that if they are gonna make a movie about devil may cry then it should be anime just like final fantasy 7 advent children. they look more real that actual humans and you cant get dante as hot as he is if you use some stupid actor. it wont work with real people. just thought id say that to ya’s

    As We all May know The movie makers never have the same ideas of the characters as we do I do like Vergil and Dante very much and making a cheap movie as promotional for another movie just sounds lame the whole reason is money if you really want to have money make a good movie out of Devil May Cry and then the money would be flooding inside becuz of the many fans but if u make a sucking movie like this one just to promote some other idea u can expect that it will be the greatest flop of all time Im sure every gamer will be dissapointed to see their favorite characters as promotional subject and the other movie wont be a great succes becuz of this it will just suck becuz all gamerz like the DMC story an characters and dont want to be fooled around with. Soo if ur gonna make a movie make a good high class movie that will enjoy the gamers and DMC fans for longer than 5 minutes before the movie. And the plan to put vergil out was really stupid every DMC fan loves him in a character way he's the cool one and calm one soo if he's out the big part of the Fans will be too. But i think ill stick to the game even the cutscenes if u have seen them all after eachother look like a better movie .
