Playstation 3 sells for $299 at Walmart?

Previously on Walmart’s site they had a flash animation featuring the Playstation 3. At the end of the clip there was a blurb that said “Sony Playstation 3 from $299.82”. Was Walmart really going to sell Playstation 3s below the price of an Xbox 360? The page on Walmart’s site has since disappeared, but not before I could get a snapshot of it. A Walmart customer service representative said that, “If it is on the website at that price then we are selling it at that price, but since we are not taking pre-orders we cannot guarantee the price.” Now before you start camping out at Walmart this is most likely a price error and not a price drop.

To bad the PS3 is not out. In Quebec, an advertising mistake like this could force Wal-Mart to sale them at the advertising price.

If a store tags a product at one price (even if its a mistake or a website typo) it is illegal to try to change the price while somone is buying it.
