Panzer Tactics DS still in the works

After Advance Wars: Dual Strike, I’ve been waiting for another RTS to come out on the Nintendo DS. The touch screen seems like the perfect platform for the genre, which is why I was psyched to hear that Panzer Tactics was coming to the DS. It was supposedly going to be released by the end of this year and the year is nearly over. I spoke to a representative from CDV who assured me the game is still coming out. 10tacle bought Panzer Tactics and are looking for a worldwide publisher for the title. Because of the switch Panzer Tactics DS isn’t going to come out until at least Q2 2007.

I’m skeptical as to its quality. And not to be picky, but Advance Wars wasn’t an RTS. It was a TBS.

I don’t know real time on a small screen? RTS usually requires 3 screens. Your HUD, your minimap, and the real time screen. That’s 2 screens too many for the DS who has only ONE touchscreen.

I’d like to see a better version of ADVANCE WARS. The system is nice but…did you ever play Shining Force on the 32x? It was Hexagonic tiles which means you could be flanked in 3 ways, sided in 2, and head on in 3. Maneuvering, and attacking is easier with hexagons. Defending your flanks are more important now that you’ve got 3 to defend. Killing a bad guy was faster since you could surround a guy with 6 folks.

Also your units would level up with you. So it was your best interest to keep casualties down so that your guys would be stronger.

TBS is more suited for the DS. RTS is more twitch play. Metroid is great FPS but I hardly play it because twitch play on the DS causes baby Jesus arthritis.
