One of our readers, dropped us a tip pointing to a GameFAQs page with updated information of Necro-Nesia. According to the link Nintendo is publishing the game under a new name Escape from Bug Island. There’s no confirmation from Nintendo about acquiring publishing rights to Spike’s game or about a name change which makes the source a little shaky. However, it isn’t too far fetched to believe that someone was going to pick up the title for localization. The campy name change might redeem Necro-Nesia from being thought as a survival horror game, which has a different set of expectations. The release date says May, 15, 2007, which could mean bug smashing with the Wii remote might not be far away.
Thanks for the tip D-Fuse!
Edit: Zabuni had a brilliant idea, run a whois on escapefrombugisland.com. The result shows that Eidos owns the domain name, maybe they’re bringing it over? Or maybe they are working on a game with bugs of some sort with an island that you have to escape. It doesn’t matter if it’s Nintendo or Eidos someone is working on localizing Necro-Nesia.
zabuni that was genius to check out the DNS, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Maybe it is Eidos or maybe they have another game related to stomping bugs in the works either way thanks for doing that.
I hope the price drops soon after release. When it’s cheap, I’ll definately buy it. Normally I’m not a cheapskate, but I wouldn’t want to spend $50 on a game that’s notorious for being the worst Wii launch game.
I hope this is a sick joke. This is 2007, you don’t rename games when bringing them over to NA just because of censorship issues, this isn’t a kids game anyway.
