Rumor: TMNT the arcade game coming to Xbox Live?

By Spencer . February 25, 2007 . 11:56am

These screenshots of the 1989 Ninja Turtles arcade game on Xbox Live were given to by a random “rumor mole”.  According to their source the game is in testing and no release date has been announced. Since a new TMNT movie is coming out in 2007, it’s possible that the game will be released when the movie is in theaters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hype is at an all time high. Something interesting to note about the title screen picture is Konami and Ubisoft’s logos are shown. Konami developed the game back in 1989, but Ubisoft now holds the Ninja Turtles license. If these are fakes the person who made the pictures did their homework.

This makes up for the rather underwhelming announcement of the NES version of TMNT with the leaking of the arcade release. With the addition of 4-player co-op online and off and achievements (according to Wikipedia) it only further makes the NES title look that much more of a letdown. They really should have went with its sequel (or better yet, Turtles in Time for the SNES), which was actually based on the arcade game and very faithful to its big brother in every sense of the word.

Now, all we need is confirmation for the arcade versions of X-Men and The Simpsons and we’re set. I can’t even imagine how many quarters I spent on all 3 titles together.
