Watch: The Adventures of Darwin

I was pleasantly surprised that D3 Publisher chose to localize the Simple 2000 vol. 99: The Origin of Man. Unlike other D3 Publisher games this does not have giant bugs or zombies chasing ambulances. The Adventures of Darwin is kind of like Pikmin meets Civilization. You control Darwin the monkey and lead a group of primates through dinosaur hunts using your “knuckle sandwiches”. Later on your tribe evolves to intelligent cavemen who can build tools like axes. Like its Japanese counterpart D3 Publisher is selling the game as a budget title with a retail price of $19.99 on June 19. While you’re waiting you can see some gameplay footage of D3 Publisher’s creative title past the break.

With more and more titles being announced by developers like D3 Publisher with The Adventures of Darwin, the PS2 is one last-gen console that simply refuses to die. Now that Sony has pretty much focused all of its efforts on the PS3 and is being less uptight on what software is allowed to be published on the PS2, I hope D3 takes this opportunity to release as many Simple 2000 games in the west as possible. Specifically, publishing The Oneechanbara and The Chikyuu Boueigun games over here at $19.99 is a bargain, not to mention steal, I couldn’t resist.
