Nippon Ichi Software switching gears, beginning to develop for Nintendo platforms

aids.jpgRPGFan spotted a report on FujiSankei Business I that Nippon Ichi Software will begin to develop games for the Wii and the Nintendo DS. The first Nintendo DS title is slated for this fiscal year (read: March 2008) and it will only be released in North America. Nippon Ichi plans to continue making strategy RPG games and their shift to Nintendo consoles seems like a good sign that one of their major franchises (Disgaea?) will be coming over to the Nintendo DS in the future.

There are seven titles currently scheduled for this fiscal term in North America and we know about the majority of them: Soul Cradle, Disgaea PSP, Aedis Eclipse, Grim Grimoire, Dragoneer’s Aria and Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm. So that leaves one mystery game within this fiscal term and it is the Nintendo DS title. It’s probably not Disgaea since it is for the US and since NIS America has a strong relationship with Gust I’m betting it is Lise no Atelier: Ordre no Renkinjutsushi.

What ever happened to Makai Wars? It was cancelled, then it was set on another system
N1 and Nintendo seem like good match, but I wonder if this means we'll be seeing more ports

Makai Wars was set to be on PS3 instead of PSP if what I heard is true.

Hope they bring Atelier Lise over here!! Really looking forward to that game! ^o^

I'm going to wait until I see Luminous Arc (admittedly from Atlus) before I decide if this is good or not. I mean, NIS games are really noteable for having lots of voice acting. How much voice can a DS have? LA supposedly has a lot, but haven't played it, so I dunno
  • I was under the impression that NIS already mentioned they'd be bringing over Mana Khemia. Maybe I jumped the gun...
