Watch – Samurai Spirits Sen on location

By Spencer . November 8, 2007 . 10:12am

The Samurai Spirits series (aka Samurai Showdown in North America) is getting a major overhaul. K2, who recently finished up work on Tenchu Z, is developing Samurai Spirits Sen for arcades and it looks more like Samurai Calibur than a SNK game. Considering how well King of Fighters: Maximum Impact turned out, this transition could be a step up for the Samurai Spirits franchise. But King of Fighters: Maximum Impact was still in 2D, Samurai Spirits Sen is three words and in three dimensions.

this may sound weird, but i've never been happy with the gravity of any 3d game. this one looks pretty rough. i'm not talking about the physics on the whole, rather the gravity in particular. watch how the characters rise and fall. everything seems heavy, yet fast, like lead on amphetamines. i'm not sure if that makes sense, but, somehow, i have never had any complaints about the gravity in a 2d fighter. it must be something about 3d vs. 2d because even games with ridiculous gravity, like the marvel capcom series, were fine for me.

Hmm...I dont know. I love the Samurai spirits games, but I have to agree with ThaKing on this. The games gravity seems clunky and I dont see any "Samurai Spirits" connection with this. I could be wrong, but seems more like an old ps2 3-d fighter. I mean Virtual fighter seems better than this.

Also how can you retain the "classic" 2d feel on Samurai shodown? The game is more classic strategic play, versus quick fast over the top super power moves. Heres hoping things work out though.
