Watch – Star Ocean: First Departure preview video

There isn’t a lot of gameplay footage in the latest Star Ocean trailer, but the anime scenes make it worth a watch. The presentation is a major upgrade from the source material, but it isn’t the only change. Tri-Ace revised the battle system to make it more action oriented like future installments. While this might not be emphasized in this clip, Star Ocean: First Departure reminds me of the Tales combat system if it was in 2D.

OK. Here’s the clip, but the sound isn’t exactly synchronized. The same movie is also on Square-Enix’s Eternal Sphere site under the special menu and it’s the second movie, to the right of the theme song.
