The graphics are gorgeous, but I’m cautiously optimistic about the Resident Evil CG movie. Great eye candy in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within couldn’t save the film from a shallow plot. Good thing Resident Evil: Degeneration doesn’t have to worry too much about an earth shattering plot. As long as there is plenty of zombie action and a few good scares I’ll be satisfied.
I think it’d be pretty hard to flop, especially w/ the previous 3 movies having garnered so many non-gaming viewers. Now this CG one looks even better and actually ties in to the main story (that’s Leon Kennedy right?)
Spirits Within was a hard sell because it neither catered to regular movier goers or FF fans, I mean Alec Baldwin and Chun-Li?
Every time I wonder if Sakaguchi were to give us Cloud back then in the first place, we probably wouldn’t have Square-Enix today.. I thought IX would’ve made an interesting movie too
@ryne11 - Screen Gems, an arm of Sony Pictures, makes the current Resident Evil movies which are not perfectly in line with the games. RE:D is made between a partnership between Capcom and Sony Pictures, which suggests a different group (maybe even Capcom?) is handling it.
@Aoshi00 - That’s Leon alright! And that’s what RE fans probably want to see. Yeah, FF: Spirits Within was caught between a rock and a hard place. It tried to pull in two audiences and got neither. At least killing zombies is universal so RE:D may not have as hard a time.

Who exactly is making this movie? Is this movie canon, or just cashing in on the RE name like the previous 3 crap-fests?
(Granted, the Devil May Cry anime is canon yet lame IMO)
