CyberConnect2 is moving on from the PlayStation 2 straight to the PlayStation 3 with a brand new Naruto project slated for 2008. Instead of sticking to the post-time skip characters their game uses young Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. I think it’s pretty obvious why Namco Bandai opted for this, if the Naruto PS3 project is successful they can easily localize it for North America.
The animation in the Jump Fiesta 2008 teaser is eye catching. The game looks like an anime that you can control. The Naruto PS3 project also appears to be a fighting game, but unlike CyberConnect2’s other fighters it incorporates sidestepping in the third dimension. Brave new territory for CyberConnect2 who has been making a pretty penny by tweaking their Naruto: Ultimate Ninja engine for years.

As obsolete as the pre time-skip chars may seem, I think the kid Naruto and gang actually pack more fights than their grown up Shippuuden counterparts, their movement are much more dynamic and exciting to watch, I mean w/ all those roundhouse an mid-air somersault.
I thought the 360 Naruto looks sweet, this looks even better, looking forward to more coverage of this.
