AtomWatch – R-Type Command unveiled for North America
A standing retail rumor pointed to Atlus making a deal with Irem for R-Type Tactics last year. Today, Atlus officially announced R-Type Tactics under its new name, R-Type Command. Name change aside, the portable, tactical experiment with the R-Type franchise is scheduled to come out on May 6. As a twist on the series players get to control the forces of Earth (read: a group of R9 fighters) in one campaign and the empire of Bydo aliens in another.

Whew! The rumors seemed too specific to be spurious, but as time went by with no announcement, I was worried that something had cropped up to delay or cancel the game.

$40 seems a little steep but who knows, it looks like it could be worth it.

yesssssssssssss! i tried to play the import, but it’s not very friendly to those of us who only read katakana. this is great news- games like this would never, ever have come to the US 10 years ago.
