Tales of Vesperia is only for the Xbox 360 in Japan too

By Spencer . March 10, 2008 . 12:26am

tovjp.jpgWhile Namco Bandai announced Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360 in North America there wasn’t a firm decision about which console(s) the game would come out on in Japan. Unsurprisingly, Tales of Vesperia will be an Xbox 360 in the land of the rising sun too, which makes this the first Tales game only found on a Microsoft console.

That is unless Vesperia pulls an Eternal Sonata and comes out on the PlayStation 3 with extra content a year later. I suppose it could happen since a handful of games like Lost Planet and Enchanted Arms start out with “only on Xbox 360” on their label only to become PlayStation 3 titles in the future.

Update: Microsoft's press release mentions Tales of Vesperia will include Xbox Live support. Whether this means online co-op or pay-to-play downloadable side quests is anyones guess. Also a trailer for Tales of Vesperia is scheduled to come out sometime this month on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace.

Ike Says:

Aw, thats a damn shame. I have no interest in investing a Xbox 360 but I guess the Tales series will make the Xbox 360 the highest selling console of the month ala GameCube and TOS. Hope it does pull an Eternal Sonata.

Angelous Says:

Honestly, I’d rather see the Tales game on the PS3 as well. I’m not a big supporter of Microsoft anymore because of their faulty hardware, terrible DRM policy, and poor customer service.

Sure, Ace Combat 6 had decent numbers in Japan and helped move some JP ‘360s, but they’ve got to know they’d hsve gotten better results if the game was released on the PS3. Right?

Thebagofsand Says:

Hope this pushes some 360’s in Japan.

mikael Says:

Extra reason to get a 360, but like some people said here it would be prefered for the ps3 which is a very good hardware…

But id be getting a 360 either ways in the future due to the Sakaguchi rpgs, so we will see which (systems) will have the superior version of this game…

riaz Says:

I think some people are missing the point. Its a tales game on 360 thats going to be comeing out in the us first i think microsoft or namco are trying to get more people to maybe try rpgs that are a little diffrent(or not like eternal sonata) i just hope this sees a euro release or at least is region free

Vino Says:

Well if Eternal Sonata taught us anything, we can guess it’s going to go to PS3, only later and with more content…

nika Says:

I really hope it does pull an Eternal Sonata.

and if not, well, my boyfriends (or anothing unwilling victem’s) 360 is going to spend some 100hrs at my place >D Might be a nice time play ninja gaiden II as well.

Spekio Says:

Any word on if they’ll be releasing a JPN voice track with the US version either now or as downloadable content?

I really hope they stop with this re-releasing with extra content later on. I hate sinking hundreds of hours into a game only to find out a new version is released and I have to start from scratch just to see a few extra scenes or hi-ougis. Although I wouldn’t mind as much if they made it downloadable later on.

Pedro Silva Says:

Darn Namco.

Hurry up and port it, this whole situation shouldn’t even be happening, their userbase is not on X360 and we’re not for sale to whoever manufacter gives out more money.
