Watch – Huge heads on wheels face off in Tancle

By Spencer . March 13, 2008 . 10:56pm

Adding to the growing pool of causal online games from Japanese console publishers is Tancle from Namco Bandai. Tancle gives players a segway-like tank and throws them into multiplayer arenas where they can shoot each other. The action looks pretty frantic something like a cross between Gunbound and a first person shooter.

Since this is a Namco Bandai game a few of their mascots make appearances as Tancles. You can drive a Dig Dug Tancle, Druaga’s helmet or Mappy’s head instead of the plain pastel face. Nothing says war like using a giant mouse face on wheels!

I want to blast a katamari back into space!

This would make a decent DS game, so here’s hoping.

SomeDude Says:

Matty: Except this needs to have online to be fun, so this would make a pretty crappy DS game. (Also, I assume Namco Bandai would want to actually make money on this game, so the DS would be a bad place for this game, as well.)

This game looks like crazy fun, and I haven’t seen anyone else reporting on it. Kudos to Silconera again! (Although this is a cross between Gunbound and a third person shooter, not an FPS.)

@SomeDude - Thanks for the props! You’re right that it’s more of a cross between Gunbound and a third party shooter. When I saw the video I thought of Gunbound and frantic Halo deathmatches, which is where the FPS comment came from. I’m surprised I didn’t think of Lost Planet’s online play because it is a third person shooter and one of the highlights in the past 24 hours.

Hee hee I like the art it’s cute.-^__^-

nika Says:

@LuminousAtelier: that makes it even better, blasting each other while riding on pink tanks, using chara’s that look sweet enough to give you a caries attack.

I assume this has a multiplayer funtion aswell? (like not going online but connecting to some friends)

SomeDude Says:

Anyone know when this game is going online? I signed up for an account, and it just keeps rejecting my ID.
