Ubisoft converting curling for the DS?

mcds.jpgAccording to the ESRB, yes. There is a rating up for Curling DS, which may or may not be a reworked version of Minna no Curling DS (pictured). If this is the case Ubisoft will have to change a lot since Rocket Company’s game is based on a Japanese league.

Speaking of Minna no Curling DS, I actually played it about three quarters of a year ago with Dan. In a single card multiplayer match we were both forced to play as Japan and rapidly scratch the ice with the stylus. Hopefully, Ubisoft’s game is better than Rocket Company’s nearly two year old DS title because it isn’t the only curling video game in town. Hudson incorporated the sport into Deca Sports.

I actually bought this game (Japanese version, obviously) a while back because I thought it would be cool/funny to have a Japanese curling game. It’s pretty stupid that you have to play as the Japanese team and overall the game is pretty mediocre, but I only say that from the perspective of someone who didn’t/doesn’t really understand the rules/strategy of curling. I figured out the basics, but not the details. Anyway, it was cheap for an import and I got my share of fun out of it. I can’t believe they would import this one though. Surely there has to be a better curling game out there.
