Watch – Combat in Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga

By Spencer . April 2, 2008 . 6:00am

We mentioned the awesomeness of Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga before and I’m not changing my tune especially after seeing this preview video. The battle scenes look really similar to Namco X Capcom, which makes sense since Monolith Soft is acting as the developer.

Renji, Xiaomu and KOS-MOS, the trio of shoved in cameo characters, are prominently featured in the preview video. However, KOS-MOS is “different” from Xenosaga. Look closely at what happens when she uses her beam attack around the 3:40 mark. Didn’t she… uhh… fire the laser out of her abdomen area? Even though Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga has unnecessary android sexuality, I’m looking forward to more button mashing S-RPG combat when this comes out on May 29. Are you?

I’m looking forward to both this game and SRWA Portable~

(btw, Mugen no Frontier is an RPG, not an SRPG ._.; )

Aoshi00 Says:

Holy, this is on the DS! I kept thinking it’s a PS2 game w/ such fluid animation.. Must Buy.

Squiddy Says:

Wow, great music! It sounds a LOT like the song on the intro level of Megaman X.

SomeDude Says:

If this is just an Action/RPG this is slightly more tolerable. If I have to move my guys along a grid, then Monolith has learned nothing from the failure that was Namco x Capcom.

That game took the parts of action games that strategy RPG players hate, and combined it with the parts of SRPGs that action gamers hate. What a waste of a game that was.

Levi Says:

Yeah, I want this game. REALLY badly.

Skygunner Says:

In Episode I it was out of abdomen area, but in Episode III it has changed to current place, to fulfill fans need and YY:)

Skygunner Says:

To SomeDude: This game is made by Banpresto not Monolith Software(JP), Monolith Software only owns the copyright of KOS-MOS and the Xenosaga story part in this game, dude

From TFA:

So, unless Spencer’s wrong, BOTH games are developed by Monolith.

Spencer Says:

Just to clear things up. This game is a cross project between Banpresto, developers of the Super Robot Taisen series, and Monolith Soft, developers of Namco X Capcom and Xenosaga.

Mikael Says:

This looks pretty solid, im always weak towards fancy acrobatics in battle animations..
The gigantic bouncing breasts seem pretty stupid but ignorable if this game truly shines :)
