The Korean developed RPG, Magna Carta, didn’t fair so well in North America, but in Japan Banpresto ported the PlayStation 2 game to the PSP. That happened nearly two years ago and by now Softmax’s legacy is a forgotten memory. However, the PSP version may matriculate in English care of 505 Games.
The PEGI has a rating for “Magnacarta Portable” despite its absence on 505 Games’ official page. Right now they’re pretty busy promoting Kira Kira Pop Princess. You know music, dancing and fashion. Awkward fashion like Calintz sleeveless outfit doesn’t fit in. While this is just a rumor, it seems probable since 505 Games published Magna Carta: Tears of Blood on the PlayStation 2. But what they are going to do about the localization? Are they going to shove the US voices in the PSP version? Will this use the same translation developed by Atlus? Is Atlus secretly working on this for North America? So many questions!
Ditto exactly what Hello Hello said, I wanted to like this game mostly because of its Korean origin, but it did not work out.
Yeah, seriously. I really tried to like this game, and it had so much potential. However it kind of fell on it’s face. From the convoluted battle system, (Why bother using anybody other than Calintz) to the confusing element system. The environments were pretty, but the towns were nearly deserted. It just left me longing for the game that could have been.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Atlus did work on it; I noticed in some of their press releases from late last year, they would mention Magna Carta in their press releases as a game they had previously published.
For instance, this one
http://www.atlus.com/pressDetail.php?pressID=124
“The Atlus library of critically acclaimed video games includes Odin Sphere, Trauma Center series, Magna Carta: Tears of Blood, and the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei series. For more information, visit http://www.atlus.com”
Which title doesn’t belong in that list? Magna Carta. Unless of course they were planning on bringing out another game (the PSP version).
My experience with the game was similar to the above posters. I think I lasted about 8 hours before giving up. It had a lot of problems, but mainly, it just wasn’t fun.
hmmm, I still wanted to try the game once, but the above posts sort of discourage me. however, if it does come to the psp I think I’ll still try it out.
I wish them luck, but if they’re gonna localize games I believe there are better choices out there.

I tried to like Magna Carta on the PS2, but the battle system was just too messy and unrefined. Anyway, if they are localizing it I hope it does well.
