Earthbound coming to the Virtual Console… eventually

By Spencer . May 2, 2008 . 9:48am

ebound.jpgEarthbound was axed from the masterpiece section in Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo won’t release it on the Virtual Console. Perhaps, it’s coming sooner than expected. The ESRB has a rating for Earthbound as a Wii game and since a remake is extremely unlikely this is probably the Super Nintendo classic.

Other potential Virtual Console games include Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown II. The latter is also rated as an Xbox 360 game, which suggests we’re going to see Samurai Shodown II on Xbox Live Arcade sometime in the future.

I didn’t play Earthbound on the SNES either and only have Mother 1&2 on the GBA import now, I think this will be a great VC purchase.

ESRB rating or not, I still don’t trust NoA. I’ll believe it when it actually happens.
