Square Enix owns Taito. Starting this year Square Enix USA is beginning to leverage their investment by releasing Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid DS in the summer. These may not be the only Taito games we will see this year. DS Fanboy scouted around Gamefly and discovered Exit and The Legend of Kage 2 in their database. Both of these were released in Japan earlier this year.
While it was short, the Legend of Kage 2 was a sweet 2D action game. We really don’t get enough of these nowadays! If Square Enix is releasing these games in North America I expect them to be budget titles. The price for the Legend of Kage 2 should be way cheaper than the 3,990 yen ($38) Japan had to pay for the sequel that took twenty years to make.

I just finished Legend of Kage 2 over the weekend, I just realize again 2D side-scroller is my one true love :) I think the screen shots don’t do this game justice. Dragging the spheres to form new spells was very fun, I only found one grey sphere so far… Playing Chihiro was pretty tough too, I’m in the middle of the game using her.
I think the game could be real long if you try to unlock all the stuffs in the gallery, which is pretty difficult. I can’t imagine fighting the last boss in hard mode, I barely managed to beat him in normal mode, the blank part between the two screen doesn’t help either when dodging projectiles, like Contra 4, you have to be on a trance, lol.
Also, I was ecstatic to hear the old main theme in one of the stages. The game is sweet indeed. I was debating whether to import it at $40 or wait for it to come stateside, it was worth it.
Hello Siliconera,
Would any fans of The Legend of Kage 2, offer a walkthrough?
I am currently suck in the under ground dark caverns area of the game. It is the place that has waterfalls and spikes. I have beaten the two demon bosses (the blue and red) in the previous round. However, I am stuck and don’t know how to get past this seemly endless dark underground cavern area.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
lobot1
Sorry I am stuck not “suck” , LOL. Btw, TLOK2 is really sweet!
Thank you again!
@Lobot1 - Excellent game indeed and love the bosses. Not sure if a walkthru is needed, but for the cavern stage, you basically just work your way up by climbing onto walls and jumping onto higher platforms.
