@Kenshin: Folklore might not have a story that many would jump into, but it’s art is probably a lot more appealing to many (non-rpg) gamers then the Tales series for example. Plus, I don’t think you can say much about the story if you’ve only read the text on the back of the game. (as you can’t with most games…)

Oh yeah..you could say 3 JRPGS if you count Senjou no Valkyria’s Japanese release.

You say that like there are a lot of JRPGS for the PS3. The only JRPGS for the PS3 in the US are:

-Folklore
-Enchanted Arms

That’s exactly what you listed! But just think for a second: Who would ever want Enchanted Arms really badly? Same with Folklore. Both of them were new IP’s and they weren’t exactly high rated, nor did they (IMO) have a story that many would just jump into and enjoy. You also can’t forget that they didn’t have any TV advertisements, and the PS3’s install base was lower when they were released.

NOW—

Get something like Tales of Vesperia (unconfirmed, rumored) or Eternal Sonata (already coming) on the PS3, and IMO, worldwide it (they?) would sell great.

Lost Odyssey did really well in the US actually, and is likely past half a million sold worldwide. Those figures are around what Tales and tri-Ace games were generally doing on PS2 for comparison.

Also, JRPGs seem to be flopping on PS3 too (Folklore, Enchanted Arms, etc). It’s not just 360 owners buying WRPGs more (Oblivion is the best selling PS3 RPG currently).

So…360 is irrelevant in Japan, it was overtaken in Europe, and it will occur here in North America by the PS3, most 360 fanboys don’t like JRPGs, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Lost Oddessey didn’t sell hardware, PS3 is the superior hardware, JRPGs haven’t been selling since the PS2 and Square-Enix wants to sell out and support an American console which prefers Western RPGs like Mass Effect over Lost Oddessey and yet…wow. This generation really is garbage.

must resist the urge to buy one… must… resist…
But a few more games like this and they’ll convince me I’m afraid.

@Jarrod: yeah, I’ll be pretty surprised if that happens as well, but hey lets give them a chance shall we? not that it matters to me, here in europe I’ll have to wait untill 2009 anyways. hopefully the’ve anounced a ps3 port by then.

Moneyhatted might not be the right word… but I’ve no doubt Square Enix and Namco are getting excellent royalty deals for the windows.
