Destructoid posted a rumor that Mega Man 9 is in development and when I saw Editor in Chief Nick Chester at the Metal Gear Solid 4 party he believed Capcom is working on it. We know Capcom is working on more Mega Man games. Mega Man: Starforce 3, a follow up to Mega Man ZX Advent, and a new Mega Man X game wouldn’t be surprising. However, a sequel to the original Mega Man is unexpected. It's probably real though. The OFLC just rated Mega Man 9 with a G for "general".
No date, platform or any other information has been leaked so we're going to have to wait until E3 to see Dr. Wily again. My initial guess is this is going to be a 2.5D Mega Man game like the PSP game Mega Man: Powered Up.
