Namco Bandai releases English Tales of Vesperia demo first (update: Get it now!)

Usually, Xbox 360 demos originate in Japan and North America. Tales of Vesperia is taking the road less traveled by preparing a demo for Asia and India before anywhere else in the world. The good news is the demo is in English. The bad news is you can’t play it this weekend unless you have an Xbox Live Gold Account registered in Singapore, Hong Kong, India or Taiwan.

While you’re waiting for the week long exclusivity to pass you can set up an account in another region by registering a Hotmail account in Taiwan or simply wait for Namco Bandai to release the same demo in North America. A demo with the Burst Artes shown in the video below is coming.

Update: Several commenters quickly pointed that the demo is on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace too. Byrc explains (thanks!!) unlike other demos, you don't even need a Japanese gold account to try it! I downloaded it and it works and if your system language is in English the demo is in English. Yeah!

    Is it worth the download?

Actually, it is available for Gold Japanese accounts, I downloaded and played it earlier today. Great demo, really looking forward to this one after the technical problems (World map?) in Tales of the Abyss.

All you need is a Japanese silver account to get the demo.

I hope the limited character movement, and awkward lip-syncing is fixed in the english retail version. Tales of the Abyss had the same problem, it wasn’t a big issue, but its the year 2008, this shouldn’t be happening.

I”m also hoping they allow for the JP voices in the english version. The main sounds great, but everyone else sounds like Cartoon Network Anime english dubs. Eternal Sonata allowed for both, so did blue dragon and lost odyssey. It will be weird if namco fubs it up again and not allow for jp voice option.

Tried out the demo, I can’t listen to the Eng. dub though even if I set my Jpn 360′s language to Eng.

The graphics seem very bland and boring though compared to Eternal Sonata.. maybe I got jaded from playing too much MGS4 and Assassin’s Creed. Got beaten to a pulp by the wolf above :(..

BTW, if they’re including two languages, the lip-syncing can really fit one or the other, like Japanese is entirely unmatched in Lost Odyssey, which was a little distracting, not to mention the Jpn dub leaves a lot to be desired since they chose not to use professional voice actors…

MGS4 can’t even include the Jpn track since the extremely long cutscenes are made specifically for each language. I’m playing it in Jpn first and decide to play the US version for my 2nd playthru.

I hope a local gameshop has the demo aswell. then I’ll be camping in front of its 360 again for a while, playing the demo till I’ve seen every polygon of it >D
