The Tales flood doesn’t stop at games. Namco Bandai also has plans to release an anime based on Tales of the Abyss, one of the better PlayStation 2 Tales games, this October in Japan. See some clips of the upcoming anime in the video below.
If all goes according to plan Japan will get five Tales games in a single year. Tales of Destiny: Director’s Cut (PS2), Tales of Rebirth (PSP), Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Wii), Tales of Vesperia (Xbox 360), and Tales of Hearts (DS). Five games for the fifteenth anniversary of the Tales series. Mathematically broken down 1/6 of the Tales of games for consoles will be released in 2008. Wow that’s a lot and I’m including fan discs like Tales of Fandom in this calculation.

It will probably be like the ToS anime and just be an OVA. Still great news though. It’s my personal favorite in the series.
Oh never mind. Looked elsewhere and it seems to be 26 episodes in length.

Oh. My. God.
The Tales series is my favorite, and Tales of Abyss is tied for first place (with Symphonia) on my list.
I think it will be an awesome anime. I wonder how many episodes are planned? I hope they don’t try to shove it into 13, or even 20-something. I hope they give it a full 50-52 episodes to do it justice.
I rarely watch or buy anime, but I’ll be first inline if these DVDs come to America. If not, I’ll just import them. Awesome.
