Onechanbara developer takes a stab at the FPS genre

unknown.jpgAs a standalone game Unknown Soldier: Mokuba no Houkou (Unknown Soldier: Howl of the Wooden Horse) appears to be a generic World War II shooting game. It’s easily mistaken as the cheaper cousin of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Actually, it’s the generic look that grabbed my attention. Unknown Soldier: Mokuba no Houkou looks like a Western developed game, but it’s being developed in Japan by Tamsoft.

It’s interesting to think that Tamsoft, a company known for making niche games, might be emulating Western game design to create a first person shooter for Japan. There really aren’t many of those! Coded Arms comes to mind, but the FPS genre is relatively untouched in Japan. Unknown Soldier: Mokuba no Houkou probably won’t turn the tide when D3 publishes this game in October. Chances are good it will come to North America since it isn’t a Simple Series game. D3 is charging 5,040 yen for it ($45).

… what system is it for? I would hope for the DS, judging by the screenshots.

Actually, nevermind… I’m a stupid. I just clicked on the DS Tab up top, so consider my question answered.

Looks like a nice third person shooter.
