Resident Evil 2 Wii-make rumor poster also “confirms” Wild Arms 6th and Shadow Hearts 3

By Spencer . August 28, 2008 . 3:32pm

re2.jpgIt’s a lazy summer day and gamers in the USA are congregating to Washington for PAX. In the absence of news discussion has sparked from a 2chan post about a Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition-like remake for Resident Evil 2. Sure, Capcom has its fair share of Wii ports which makes the news superficially believable, but the same poster also says we’re going to see Shadow Hearts 3, Wild Arms 6th, and a sequel to Soul Blazer. Yeah, the Soul Blazer made by Enix for the Super NES.

The post has been removed from 2chan’s archives, but through the magic of Google caching it lives. I roughly translated all of the “announced” games so, you know, you can make an educated decision if the news is real or wishful thinking.

    I'm not sure how they would do a third Shadow Hearts, unless it's another side-story like From the New World. And isn't most of the original SH team working in Feelplus now? If this is true (and it probably isn't) I sure hope Aruze doesn't get a different team to develop it.
  • Marc
    Did it say what system Wild Arms 6th and Shadow Hearts 3 are gonna be on? Hopefully, PS3 as I can't imagine Shadow Hearts 3 on the PSP...even though I love mine. But I guess I can live with them on the PS2. I'm just happy for more Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts
  • ECM
    lol, sword of sodan?! The God-awful Amiga/Genesis side-scrolling hack 'n' slash is coming to PSP from...Sega?! The only thing that makes this even a little plausible is that Sega is so lost and confused these days that they might just do something this stupid. It would also prove, scientifically, that God hates the PSP.

    And for the record, the only good thing about SoS was that you could hack enemies' heads off and they'd make a vomit-like sound effect when you did it (and it was only cool then because I was still in high school).

    And if you do plan on checking this game out, make sure it's the much superioer (as awful as it is) Amiga version--the Genesis version is amongst the worst ports/games ever.

    a new shadow hearts?? awsome a new soul blazer even better
  • @Everyone - I wouldn't get your hopes up for any of these games. This "news" (note the quotes) sounds fishy.
  • The only real games coming out from that list are Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 (was confirmed along with Tales of Hearts a whil eback) and Gundam vs. Gundam. Everything else (especially Soul Blader 2--unless it turns out to be a PSN made title a la Dark Mist--) seems a bit unrealistic.
  • @Rolando - My thoughts exactly!
  • Al
    Wait, wasn't Illusion of Gaia essentially Soul Blazer 2? And Terranigma was third in that series?
  • krypt
    Is isn't Soul Blader/Blazer 2, Illusion of Gaia? Seeing how's there's already a trilogy of Soul Blader games, I don't understand how that would work. Is Quintet even around still?
  • ECM is right, Sword of Sodan was one of the bottom 5 games on the system. No one in their right mind would remake it. ever.
  • EvilAkito
    I thought there already was a third Shadow Hearts game.

    And yeah, I'm calling BS on the Soul Blazer sequel. The RE2 remake doesn't sound too unrealistic, but considering that the source, I wouldn't count on it.
  • jeffx
    @krypt: yes, Quintet are still around, they worked with Gust on most of the Atelier Iris games... probably Ar Tonelico too?

    But yeah... Robotrek, Soul Blazer trilogy, ACTRAISER!!! They sure knew how to put together great Action/RPG games. Heck even Granstream Saga wasn't THAT bad.
  • Al
    Yeah Granstream was ok. Not great, but ok. Nothing compared to Gaia and Terranigma though.
  • laharsama
    @marc
    Wild Arms is an IP owned by SCEJ so a new wild arms for PS3 could be possible.

    @Spencer

    Don´t be party pooper :D
  • CHR_AeON
    MS would be out of their minds to release a follow-up to one of the worst Xbox games, ever (Nezumi-kun GHU! = Nezmix GHU! / Nezmix = Sneakers).
  • jarrodand
    @jeffx

    What's the skinny on the Quintet/Shade relationship? It's always confused me?
