Retailer Game Star seems to have leaked vague details about the new features in Chrono Trigger DS. According to their product description, there are two original dungeons. Dimensional Distortion has an extremely tough ordeal to face and a hidden power to find. Clearing the three parts of the dungeon have a unique effect of changing the End of Time. The first one is “shocking”. The Dragon’s Sanctuary becomes available at the end of the story where suddenly new gates for the Prehistoric era and Middle Ages appear. You must complete requests, sometimes requiring you to travel to different time periods to progress forward.
In a dimensional arena players can train and battle monsters. When monsters grow from training they change their appearance. So, they evolve like Pokemon? Players are awarded with rare items when they win arena fights. Monster battling can be done with friends so this appears to be the new two player wireless feature Square Enix has yet to announce.
