Winds of Nostalgio Soaring To North America?

Winds of Nostalgio Soaring To North America? According to an e-mail by Ken Berry from XSEED it is. Ben sent a tip (thanks!!) and pointed us to a NeoGAF thread where a forum user by the name of Hero of Legend (the same one here, perhaps?) has been gathering requests and pinging XSEED’s director of publishing to see if he’s aware of them. In response to Winds of Nostalgio Berry flat out says “this is coming to the US”.

No word on the publisher, but it might not be XSEED. It’s probably Tecmo considering they have an arm in North America and published Winds of Nostalgio in Japan. At Tokyo Game Show I tested out the airship combat which felt just like regular combat in an RPG. Winds of Nostalgio may not reinvent the RPG wheel, but it has high production values. Matrix Software, the team behind Final Fantasy IV DS, developed Winds of Nostalgio.

Why yes, it IS the same one! XD

Glad to provide what info I can get, and as you can see, I take any game requests, XSEED doesn’t mind at all! :)

Oh if you’re taking game requests (I don’t have a NeoGAF account) I’d really like to hear their opinion on the Brandish PSP remake

which is sparking a lot of interest over at the Atlus and Seldane boards. In fact maybe someone should pass the word to Koei too, since they did publish the original after all.

I’d be happy to add that!

Someone already suggested that, but nonetheless, it’s going in my next email! :)

Also oddly enough, Gamasutra just posted an interview with Tecmo, asking about Winds of Nostalgio.

They say there are no plans to bring it over, but they “may change their mind”, if they’re not bringing it over, then that pretty much leaves Atlus as the only other appropriate publisher.

Ignition or Majesco is a bit silly for this game. This is a real RPG, not a niche variation of one, like AWAY.

By the way, Tecmo seems to have delayed Rygar Wii to Feb/March 2009.

Has no one considered the fact that Square Enix could also potentially publish Winds of Nostalgio here, sort of as a favor to Matrix for their DS remakes? Maybe this is what XSEED meant.

As far as Ignition and Majesco are concerned, both seem to aggressively want to expand outside of casual games, so I wouldn’t rule them out just yet.

@jeffx: as much as I love Square-enix, I would rather they not publish it. I want to avoid 40 dollar DS games as much as possible. Atlus is the ideal publisher for Nostalgio in my mind.
