At Least You Can Try Yakuza 3

Yakuza 3 comes out in Japan next week. Sega hasn’t said anything about releasing the PS3 game or Yakuza: Kenzan, which preludes Yakuza 3 anywhere else yet. Bummer. As a domestic marketing push and a consolation prize for the rest of the world Sega is releasing a demo of Yakuza 3 on the PlayStation Store tomorrow. Get your Japanese PlayStation Account ready!

The demo has a brawling section and a sampler of the mini-games in Kamurocho. Head to the arcade and play one of Sega’s Answer X Answer machines, win prizes from the UFO Catcher, and try an original shooting game. You can also sing in a karaoke game and/or spend time at hostess club Stardust. Outside of the city Kazuma can also go golfing in Okinawa, but you need to buy the full game for that.

I really hope this game comes out in america… I own the first two and it would really suck if we didn’t get it. I waited like 2 years for the second one so I wouldn’t have a problem waiting that long for the third one. I’ve been scratching my head trying to come up with 400 dollars to save up for the yakuza ps3…… -.- no one has enough to buy my 80gig ps3 for 350 dollars…….

I have a question: would playing Yakuza 3 require you to play the first two games?
I bet the answer to this question has a lot to do with the decision to localize or not. If it requires knowledge from these games, Sega might find it will put off too many potential customers.

it doesn’t require, if it is like yakuza 2 it’ll have a optional recap in the game, for those that didn’t play them, and it’s a game tuned so you can get in without playing the previous ones. (speaking from Yakuza 2)

This said… I really wouldn’t recommend jump starting it. The story is related and ongoing and it is best if you started from the beginning.

The two Kenzan demos were pretty fun, I’ll d/l these tmw. What I’m not crazy about is the game using all these famous actors for voices, I know they are going for the bad ass feel, but I would rather have games/anime employ professional voice actors, worst offender Miyazaki movies..

I still haven’t finished Yakuza 2 yet, one thing that bothers me is they keep mistranslating the Kazama guy’s name wrong, it was misspelled as “Fuma” every single time, kind of distracting.

Every time i see something yakuza related i feel bad for not carrying on with the first game, i was really enoying it, but then i got to that boss with the gun, ontop of the roof….i hate replaying big sequences, and this one had me constantly making my way back up to the Farking roof!!

    superb game though..
