Factor 5′s Wii Game Finally Coming Out In ’09?

By Spencer . May 4, 2009 . 1:38pm

imageIt’s no secret Factor 5, the developer behind many Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games and Lair, is working on the Wii. The studio claimed they have a powerful engine ready last year, but still haven’t announced an actual game.

Perhaps, their first Wii game is coming out in 2009? According to Achim Moller’s LinkedIn resume it is. Moller also mentions a canceled game with Brash Entertainment. This fits since Factor 5 had a multi-game contract with Brash Entertainment before they closed their doors last year.

Considering Moller is the CEO and Lead Engineer in the Germany office we should be able to trust his word, right?

I’m sorry, but the only thing that pops into my head is that Kid Icarus rumor.

I’d love it to be a new Turrican.

  • TurkeyPotPie

I thought Factor 5 was out of business?

I also thought this; maybe it was just a particular branch that closed down.

That was some rumour going around, yes. The only thing definitive I heard was that Factor 5 had serious cash problems after Brash closed their doors, even to the point where they couldn’t pay the employees for a few months.

Glad to see they survived despite Lair. Maybe they should go back to developing middleware and engines for someone else like they did with Nintendo, because from a technical standpoint they sure are a top-notch studio.

So Superman is deader than a doornail, but the Wii titles might live? And what’s left of Factor 5 returned to its native Germany?

  • lostinblue

they laid of half of the team, but good to know they’re still hanging around.

I want to see the game, if anything as a slap in the face for crappy third party developers but… I gotta say i’m concerned regarding gameplay, I still remember rogue squadron 3 foot missions and the lair fiasco, as good as they are from a technical standpoint… their gameplay sure is getting old, they need to fix it.

Well if there’s anyone that can make the Wii look competitive graphically to the other current-gen systems, it’s Factor 5. What the were able to squeeze out of the N64 with Rogue Squadron is a borderline miracle, even bearing in mind the expansion pak.

This should just make Turrican 3 with Chris Hulspick music thats the only game I would buy from Factor 5.
