Kyogre and Groudon Return In Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver

http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/kyogregroudon_gs.jpg The two big version-exclusive legendaries from Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald will make a return appearance in the upcoming Gold/Silver remakes. Kyogre will be available in HeartGold while Groudon may be found in SoulSilver.

The best part? Bringing both of them into a single DS game will cause Rayquaza to appear.

Considering all we know so far about HeartGold and SoulSilver so far, it really seems like GameFreak is out to make these the most packed Pokémon games this generation. And they haven’t even discussed Celebi or Mewtwo yet! I suspect either of them will be in the game…

It feels like GBA carts are gradually becoming less necessary to fill the Pokedex in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Pokemon Platinum provides access to the legendary birds from Fire Red/Leaf Green and the legendary golems from Ruby/Sapphire, and this development only continues the trend. I do agree Mewtwo might be distributed in some way or another in the future. You can still only get a Mewtwo via Fire Red/Leaf Green and I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo/Game Freak did away with that.

    Wow!

Since the DSi lacks the GBA Slot and Pokemon is one of Nintendo’s major handheld franchises, Nintendo/Game Freak probably want to stuff these new versions full of any missing or hard to get pokemon from the GBA games that aren’t in Pearl/Diamond/Platinum.

Yea, this is what I’ve maintained all along, too. Considering the rate at which the DSi userbase is growing, by 2010 (which is when we’ll get this game), a lot of people will likely have upgraded.

Hg/Ss seem like they’ll be the last of the current gen games to me, coinciding with the Arceus movie which concludes the Di/Pe trilogy. That’s probably one of the reasons there are so many legendaries in Hg/Ss alone.

I wonder if we’ll ever see anything in the form of proper Pokemon DLC such as returning to a previous region.

I think we will once the series goes DSi-exclusive. Nintendo seems to be much more receptive to the idea of DLC and user-generated content on the DS.

I don’t know to what extent they’ll push DLC though…I mean, Pokémon is easy money for them, and DLC would waste an opportunity for them to sell a packaged product at full price.
