I haven't seen the movie actually other than the Sony trailer, and it was from there I found out Oshii is the director (I never was a fan of his movies adapted from other manga/anime). I assumed it was very action oriented just like Otomo's Steamboy or like the recent Macross TV series where they showcased lots of mecha in CG, guess like all US trailers they packed all the action in the 2 mins.

I like the premise described here, but I've just checked out the site for the Wii game, unfortunately I'm fond of neither the character design nor the voice cast.. (Hagu from Honey & Clover voicing the main female lead, maybe she's better now that she's older…). Wonder if the gameplay is similar to Ace Combat since it's made by the same people.

It's a little hard to tell based on the wording of your post, but did you get a chance to see the film yet? If not, it is quite different from the way Sony advertised it in the US, and much more like Oshii's other works than the action-oriented trailers implied.

The game may be action-packed, but don't expect the movie to be.

Excellent pickup! I have to wonder if there's any remote chance now that XSEED could move into more established Namco stuff? Tales of Hearts and Radiant Mythology 2 would be nice…

Is it usual for games to be out for a loong time in Japan but then suddenly come stateside suddenly? If not, then ToI has little hope =|

On another note, I love love love the premise of this game. Definitely a want! =D

I wasn't very interested in the anime as it was directed by Oshii Mamoru (just like Patlabor I only liked the OVA/TV series but not the movies, too much boring talky politics and conspiracy theories), but I'm somewhat interested in this game.

It's cool when I think about how the radio communication would come from the remote speaker, but it would probably be cooler if the game has better graphics (PS3/360) since the Blu-ray movie was filled w/ CG dog fights?

Trust me, we have a lot of questions for XSEED that we've been tossing around for months now. In fact, there's an e-mail chain between Spencer and I with like, 20-30 XSEED questions in it.

There's a place and time for everything though. As much as we would have loved to ask all those questions at E3, it just wasn't possible under the circumstances. We'll definitely be bugging XSEED in the future though, so stay tuned. I'm just as curious about their relationship with Namco as you are. ;p
