Idea Factory Bringing Mana Khemia 2 To PSP

By Spencer . July 30, 2009 . 7:28pm

image Just like Mana Khemia, Mana Khemia 2 is getting a PSP port and it’s coming to Japan on October 1.

Japanese retailer Gamestar says the game will have a large volume of extra content, but it isn’t clear what elements are being added. As a frame of reference, Mana Khemia: Student Alliance had a two player mode and extra alchemy ingredients.

Gamestar also lists Idea Factory as the maker instead of Gust, the company that developed Mana Khemia 2. Perhaps, they’re behind the port.

No word if NIS America is going to pick the PSP version up, but if you want to enjoy Mana Khemia 2 with two voice tracks and on a big screen TV the PlayStation 2 version will be in stores next month.

I’m interested, as long as the horrible load times of the first PSP port aren’t present. NISA didn’t add all of those load times, they were quite bad in the Japanese version as well.

Mana Khemia 2 better have “Barrel”!

    Or else…

HAH! I got so many “wtf” looks from my friend in Atelier Iris as I spammed “Barrel” when they tried to talk to me. Love it.

Also, pre-ordered the PS2 version already… so… unfortunately, I will pass on this. PSP ports do not have a very good history.

euhmmm…you know that mana khemia on PS2 and on PSP are the same story?

        • http://www.nisamerica.com NickyD

Yes, of course they are. It’s a port. If you read my comment a little more closely, you’ll see I was referencing the fact the PSP Ports do not have a good history; they are generally plagued with slowdown, muddied textures, or more awkward interfaces.

I think that if NISA were to release it here they might go the download only route.

The first game’s problem with horrible load times has been almost completely solved by the PSN version. I wonder if it will come for MK2 too.

Will it come with all the extra that the PS2 version comes with?

Even if it did I wouldn´t trade it in for the PS2 version. I want my gaming to be on a big screen. Not a small one.

The extras are gifts from NIS America. This is about the Japanese release so it’s way to early to tell if NIS will release MK2 Portable Plus with the same goodies. They haven’t even confirmed if this is coming or not, but they probably won’t offer the same items.

In Japan there is also a limited edition of MK2 Portable Plus with a PSP pouch and a deluxe box.

ah. That´s nice and a good reason to get the PSP version then :p

Lucky me I already have a Prinny Pouch :)

NISA are nice to us. The Rosenqueen store in particular.

But oh well. I just wish I could understand Japanese, would make everything so much simpler :p
