Level 5 Linking Layton And Key Franchises To ROID

By Ishaan . August 3, 2009 . 11:14am

I was researching Level-5 lately for another article, and happened to come across this ROID page.

It mentions Inazuma Eleven Future, Professor Layton London Life, Danbol Senki, and Ni no Kuni: Hot Trot Stories projects are in development for their mobile phone platform. Professor Layton and the Mansion with the Deadly Mirror is currently on ROID.

Perhaps Level-5 will also have some news on when the service will finally hit PCs as well?

I can has ROID clientz? I don’t want it on PC, I want it on my mobile phone. :/

  • I don’t know anything about them, but the ROID page resembles a futuristic Mother game. Great for them to promote the franchises in a different way in Japan, so it might help the new games’ sales in the long run like you mentioned with Inazuma Eleven (immediately reminded me of your recent Level-5 piece).

    • Yea, I thought about including ROID in the piece, but there’s been no indication of whether or not it’ll take off so far. Still, it is very ambitious, and to think that they want to offer a Steam-like service on PC is incredible.

I’m thinking of maybe doing a yearly feature on smaller devs like Vanillaware and Level-5…seeing how much they’ve grown every year, and looking back at their previous year.

    • Seems like a logical step for expansion in the West. :)

This is actually kind of an unfortunate name.
