Tekkaman Blade Joins Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars

By Ishaan . September 9, 2009 . 9:00am

tatsuAs opposed to the original Japanese release Cross Generation of Heroes, Ultimate All-Stars is missing Hakushon Daimao, whose absence will be made up for with extra characters — each from Tatsunoko and Capcom. One of these new characters is Tekkaman Blade. The others are set to be revealed at TGS this year. (Come on, Strider!!)

Take a look at Tekkaman Blade’s special moves.

The character reveal in Famtisu also confirms Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is heading to Japan. Over there, it’s an updated re-release since Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes came out last year. Aside from a cast shuffling, Ultimate All-Stars adds online play. Capcom hasn’t said anything about international online play or WiiSpeak support.

Hell yes! I grew up watching Tekkaman Blade (well, called Teknoman in the states) so this news is sending me into giggling fits. It’s pretty much sealed that I have to get the stateside release now!

Excellent choice, Capcom. Still holding out hope for Braiking Boss as the second Tatsunoko character, but after the choice of Tekkaman I understand the need to try and include Tatsunoko characters with at least a little western recognition.

Ahhh Braiking Boss would be an awesome character! Hell, anyone from Casshern would make me happy… Dio would be so awesome, but it doesn’t seem like Casshern Sins would fit with the classic cast of Tatsunoko characters.

Argh.. I was hoping for Tekkaman Blade to be in this game at the beginning instead of the original one, one of the best anime series despite its fluctuating animation quality. I’m not counting Super Robot Wars.

Vol Tekka looks beautiful, I think it’s the 2nd form and I still have that model kit somewhere. It would be awesome if they throw in Evil as well then we’ll have the dream match. I’ll wait till the price drops in the future though since I alrdy imported it :(…

D-Boy (or Slade in the US) = Sephiroth :)

Nice selection. Still, I assume the Japanese version will get to keep all the original music that is being excised from the US version? I still can’t get over that. Oh the feeling of slapping Jun around with Ken while the Gatchaman theme plays, pure bliss.

    Oh and Condor Joe damnit.

Also shouldn’t there be 3 Tatsunoko characters being added? I was under the impression Capcom said two new ones were coming to the Capcom side, if they only add two and remove one it will tip the balance.

Hmm… I don’t know about keeping all of the music. When I spoke to the producer it seemed like Ultimate All-Stars would be the same in all regions. He didn’t seem keen on restoring Hakushon Daimao and pulling the licensing off for that even though the character is already balanced for the game.

    • Advent_Andaryu

On the Capcom Blog forums the admins said only two from each side, not three from Tatsunoko like we originally thought.

  • Advent_Andaryu

I hope they announce Soul Taker for Tatsunoko soon… And it would be great for a DMC representative! I’d personally rather have Nero but I realize more people are leaning towards Dante…

  • Zeik56

C’mon, make one of the characters Okami Amaterasu! We already know we got gypped out of Phoenix Wright as a playable character, that’s all I have left to hope for. Besides, it would be good promotion for the upcoming Okami on DS. Do it!
