Sky Crawlers To Feature English Voices Only; Japanese Track Still In Fragile

By Ishaan . September 10, 2009 . 2:09pm

We got in touch with Xseed to confirm whether or not Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces would include the Japanese voices in the game’s final build as indicated by the new trailer.

“Unfortunately, it looks like The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces will not have the original Japanese voice-overs included, only the new English voices,” a representative from Xseed explained. “This appears to be mainly a licensing issue with the Japanese voices for territories outside of Japan, but even if they were available there are some questions about the disc capacity being able to contain both the Japanese and English voices.”

So will Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon face the same issues? Xseed are more optimistic about the chances of Japanese voices in that game. “All signs from the dev team are that the Japanese voices can be included together with the English voices for Fragile. We should have final confirmation on this later as an English build becomes available for the first time.”

I’m happy about Fragile because it’s one of the few Wii games I am excited about and a dual language option would be really nice. It is really nice seeing Xseed trying to give us the best product possible. :)

New voices, are they using the movie’s voice actors?

Also, positive news about Fragile, thanks for the info Ishaan.

I hope Arc Rise Fantasia keeps the japanese voice-overs

The Sky Crawlers game has different characters than the movie right? I’ve seen the movie and the Jpn voice acting wasn’t that good anyway since they used actors instead of seiyuu, also the dialogue was quite strange because the Jpn actors would all speak English (w/ accent of course) during the dogfights, so I just watched the movie in English anyway just to be consistent. Oshii Mamoru just isn’t my cup of tea…

I’m kind of curious what Fragile would sound like in English, still hasn’t brought myself to finish the game, kind of frustrating anyway…

Is Fragile supposed to be out by the end of 2009 in NA? Or early 2010?

Sounds like they didn’t want to pay extra.

This is why official US-releases suck. Why can’t we import the full version from Japan and download a simple English patch, then read the game, turn it into an iso-file, patch that one, and burn the patched game onto a new DVD. It worked with NamcoXCapcom, that way I could pay developers and artists in full, including the Japanese voice actors. I hate it that US-publishers can decide for me whom I’m going to pay with my money!

Chiaki Kuriyama’s agent wanted the big bucks? (Assuming the game had the same cast as the movie.)
