image Famitsu got a response from Nintendo of Japan regarding the Nikkei news report about a DSi with a larger screen. The article stated a new Nintendo DSi with a 4” screen is scheduled to come out in Japan this year for the same price as the current Nintendo DSi model.

“Our company is not doing any interviews. We believe this article is speculation," a Nintendo spokesperson said to Famitsu.

Earlier reports from the Nikkei news brought word of Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and the Nintendo DSi before Nintendo got to announce them to the public.

I love it when companies says “it’s just speculation”.

My favorite was the one when Nintendo denied the rumors about the DS Lite, and then proceeded to announce it the day after.

    • Haha, I don’t think anyone will ever forget that.

Even if this were true, DSi is just starting to get down to the 129$ pricepoint, a new model with .75 inch larger screens coming out at a premium just isn’t that exciting for me.

I’ll upgrade my DS lite when the DS2 Tegra comes out sometime next year.
