Keroro RPG Is Pretty Much Tales of Keroro

Namco Bandai’s mysterious K-Project? It’s a code name for a Keroro RPG made by the Tales Studio. Namco Bandai has been making Keroro (aka Sgt. Frog here) games since 2004, but I never imagined this combination!

Keroro RPG: The Knight, Warrior, and Legendary Pirate even uses Tales’ trademark linear motion battle system and has Tales style skits. The game is set to come out on the Nintendo DS sometime next year.

From the screenshots it does NOT look like the LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System). The LMBS system is the 3D system that they have used in Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia. From the screenshots, it looks like they are using the older (and superior) 2D battle system.
  • Interesting. While I don't care for the license, this might actually make for a superior "Tales" game.
  • MadMirko
    Yes, yesyesyes!
  • Isn't LMBS the generic name for the Tales battle system? The 3D battle system in Abyss and Vesperia was FR(flex range)-LMBS. Phantasia was LMBS and Hearts CNBR-LMBS.

Keroro is supposed to have more aerial combat and partner attacks which makes it sound a lot like Hearts.

    Ha, I'd enjoying playing this.

but really, what the chances of this ever coming over to the West?
  • Ereek
With how illogical Bamco is with their Western releases, I'll say about 80% possible.
  • Maybe. The manga series have been out for a while and the anime series just started getting released in N.A.
I don't know why companies don't get together and do cross promotions. It seems it would help everyone out if they tried.

Lol nice I called it. This is going to be so awesome.

Too bad it won't get localized though. Portable Tales game + obscure anime = no chance in hell. :(
  • ShinNoKami
O__o how obscure is Sgt. Frog in America anyway? Has it been shown?
  • nyoron
Not on TV, which is pretty much the last nail in the coffin I think. The only anime games that have a shot at localization are super popular shonen stuff like Bleach, Naruto, and Dragonball. Keroro is not even close.

*sigh* Another Bamco game I will never get to play that utilizes the Tales of battle system.

    Need... to learn Japanese!

    Edit: Gah, accidentally spammed, sorry!

wow keroro rpg with tales system = win!
  • shion16
    Lost fon drive de arimasu!!!!!
  • bugmeknot
Yay my hopes came true... but it's on DS. Oh well this is to be expected from Tales series now, on all kinds of platforms, even the ones I don't own.
