The Last Window Is A Sequel To Hotel Dusk

By Ishaan . November 12, 2009 . 7:20am that’s what The Last Window was — proof that there is a God. The full title is Last Window: Mayonaka no Yakusoku (Last Window: Midnight Promise) and is developed, as you’d expect, by Cing. It releases for the Nintendo DS on January 14, 2010 and takes place in a 1980s Los Angeles. (Yes Kyle is back.)

In a recent interview conducted by Cubed3, Cing confirmed they were considering the possibility of an encounter between an older Kyle Hyde and a grown up Ashley Mizuki Robbins from Trace Memory, since there is a clear overlap between their stories. Whether or not The Last Window will be where this meeting takes place remains to be seen.

  • My jaw dropped a little here… You speak words of truth. I think prayers may have been answered. =)

      OH MY GOD!!

Did you hear that!? A sequel to Hotel Dusk! OMFG!
This is better news than the announcement of Peace Walker!

I totally looooooveeeed Hotel Dusk! I playd it one day straight and at the end, i fell asleep and my DS Battery ran out, then i needed to play 2hours until the end again, cuz i didnt save.

      I am happy.

      • I always fall asleep playing Culdcept DS at night. I swear, it’s a good thing you can clamshell it and/or that it has a long battery life. =3

  • Kris

That sounds awesome! I love the Trace Memory crossover idea. I need to go back and finish Hotel Dusk though…

  • Definitely looking forward to this. The picture gives off a nice feel too, though it’s not anything to really judge by.

Man, does this mean I’ll have to play HD again?

  • This is great news! Does that mean “The Last Story” is “The Last Window”?

I hope Nintendo brings this one over…

    • I thought about this too! Seems probable.

Hotel Dusk was called Wish Room in Japan and the sequel is The Last Window. They have a good “room” theme going on there.

The Last Story would be a better title for the States.

    OH #@%$ YES!!

  • Chow

What was the overlap again? It was a while since I played either game.

    Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
    Tochter aus Elysium!
    Wir betreten feuertrunken,
    Himmlische, Dein Heiligtum.
    Deine Zauber binden wieder,
    Was die Mode streng geteilt,
    Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
    Wo Dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

    Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
    Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt!
    Brüder, über’m Sternenzelt
    Muss ein lieber Vater wohnen!

This is easily one of the best days in my life.

    • This, and every other comment in this news thread is wonderful, hilarious, and great. I had no idea there were so many other fans of Hotel Dusk. This pleases me to great lengths.

@matty: Damn you for your Deja Vu mention-Listening to the soundtrack at work…again.

  • EvilAkito

Wow! Time to add this to my must-buy list.

I’m seriously really happy for this one. I always wanted to see more of Kyle and Mila (I hope). I’m so excited! 100% guaranteed buy from me! A Trace Memory crossover is also a plus.

  • Cool!

  • Do want! Probably the best news I’ve heard all month! Once this gets confirmed for a NA release (It BETTER or someone is gonna pay!), I’ll pick up HD for another play through.

  • Aoshi00

Awesome, Hotel Dusk and the Phoenix Wright series were probably my favorite games on the DS. However, I don’t wish for a cross over w/ Trace Memory, their worlds are too different even though they share a similar art style. Need to finish Another Code R some day, didn’t hold my interest like the DS game, or I just haven’t gotten far enough.

  • Oh my god. I think…I think I just jizzed my pants.

  • Awesome. I liked Cing’s games very much. I was disappointed that Wii Trace Memory didn’t make it to US but if this comes over I’ll forgive Nintendo. ^_^

  • Joanna

I already heard about this, but for some reason I was under the impression it was on the Wii. I’m happy it is not. But I still wish we would get Another Code R as well. :/
