Monster Finder Renamed Foto Showdown For North America

By Ishaan . November 15, 2009 . 9:47am case you missed it the first time around, Konami’s first DSi-exclusive game is getting an international release. However, it’s not going to be "Monster Finder" when it gets there.

Probably in order to highlight the fact that it’s a DSi-exclusive game, Konami have renamed it "Foto Showdown" according to Gamestop’s listing. As drastic a change as it is, it probably will help attract attention to the game.

  • Wow that’s a bad name it should stay the same. You’re making the game sound spanish.

  • That’s… a pretty stupid name.

At least the core gameplay’s staying the same.

Worst name ever. Who thought of that?

    • Not quite the worst name ever…
I think that award is reserved for either “Divine Divinity” or “Touch Dic.”

  • Zeik56

I can sort of understand why they’d change it, since “Monster Finder” sounds a little too similar to all the other “Monster” games out there. (Monster Hunter, Monster Rancher, etc), but Foto Showdown? WTH is a Foto?

Funnily enough those “Monster …” games are not big in the West, and they had no problem with the similarity in Japan.

Foto (like in photo as in photography) Showdown sounds like an app with gaming functions.

Dumb name. At least monster finder gave you a clue as to the games content. People will take one look at the name and assume its another minigame compilation, with camera play.
    Bad move.
