Do You Want Mana Khemia 2 Portable Plus?

Mana Khemia 2 came out late in the PS2’s lifecycle and didn’t get as much attention as Gust’s other works. Perhaps, the PSP port would fare better.

So, I asked Nao Zook, Marketing Coordinator at NIS America, if they have plans to release Mana Khemia 2 Portable Plus in North America. She responded with a question. “I want to ask you guys a question instead of answering the question… Do you guys want Mana Khemia 2 Portable Plus?”

Well, do you?

    DEF want

  • lucy1986

Oh man, I’ve been holding out for this happening for so long! I refused to buy the ps2 version because I wanted to play this on the move, I was hoping it wouldn’t just be Japan that got it. PLEASE bring it to the west!!!

  • Ereek

Ah! I just bought MK2 last night from RQ, too.

    But sure, why not.

      Fun times ahead! :D

      • Ereek

I actually am a bit ashamed that I didn’t get it before now. Atelier series games have always been “Day 1″ for me. It’s just the time when it came out was so hectic for me, and not to mention there were so many other titles out around the same time that I just wasn’t able to get around to it. I’ve heard that while the North American version got rid of the glitch from the Japanese version that prevents all progress during your third game, but I also heard it introduced another glitch. Do you have any idea about that?

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

I hear you. There’s a bunch of games I want that I haven’t been able to buy yet either. Someday…someday, I’ll get them all and lock myself in a room for 3 weeks.

Unfortunately, I haven’t played far enough into MK2 to talk about the glitch, although, there was some discussion of this in the comments in one of the two playtests I did for the game.

Koei or NISE will not publish the PS2 version in Europe so a translated version of Mana Khemia 2 portable for PSP will be welcomed.

  • Kris

    I’d be up for it.!
Never played MK2, but I’d buy it if the load times weren’t as abysmal as I heard Student Alliance’s were.

    • malek86

Yeah, I have seen some videos about it, truly horrible. But the downloadable version from PSN solved that (thankfully). Moving between areas can still take three or four seconds, but battles load in no more than two second. Framerate is still kinda bad, but at least you won’t die of old age anymore.Maybe they should make a UMD version with a full-size install (not just the useless Jump Start feature). That would be like getting it from PSN, with the added bonus of the game box and manual for collecting purposes.

      • JeremyR

Exactly, Gran Turismo had a full install, it’s something I’d like to see in more PSP games (at least those with loading times).

Anyway, I don’t know that I’d buy this at full price, but I would buy it at $15 (that’s what I got the original for, off the PSN store). There’s a lot of RPGs coming to the PSP in 2010

        • Ereek

I highly doubt it will be $15. MK1 Portable was rather badly received do to technical issues and is also a bit old at this point, both likely leading to a lower price point. I’d expect it, probably, to be around $29.99, Disgaea 2 Portable’s price.

          • JeremyR

Oh yeah, what I mean was, I’ll probably end up getting it when it eventually hits $15, like most of NISA’s PSP games after a while. I’m sure it will be $30 at launch.

        • malek86

It would probably cost 30$ like Disgaea 2 Portable. But that would be ok, I guess.

So I voted yes.. as long as they promise this time the UMD version isn’t going to suck (or they add a full install).

Since NISE doesn’t seem to want to release the PS2 version, a region free PSP version might be non-modded Eurogamers only hope. YES PLEASE

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Hiryuu

    No hesitation on this. Want.

  • Xien12

If it turns out like Mana Khemia portable, then no.

  • http://ofurotaimu.dreamwidth.org shirokiryuu

    I would definitely get it!

  • http://www.siliconera.com Jenni

Absolutely. I ADORED the original Mana Khemia. I haven’t gotten the chance to pick up Mana Khemia 2, but I would definitely be interested in and prefer the PSP version.

  • eliel

MK2 is such a great game, I want to play the PSP bonus !

  • http://otoboku.se manga

All depends on price, console, extras and so much more details.

So at this time I can´t say yes or no. The game itself was pretty fun. But I don´t know if I want to play trough from stage one again and since the extras and getting 100% on everyone´s books is what I have left…

Making it compatible so I can play it on my PS3 with my PS3 controller would make me want it more :p

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

I cannot say. I haven’t played MK2 yet but I want to. If the porting job is good sure, but I’m tempted to just get the PS2 version.

  • holyPaladin

    Just finish it on PS2

  • narakutenma

I never played MK1 portable although I’ve heard some pretty negative things about it. Regardless, MK2 is a really fun and good game and I support the release of MK2 Portable Plus along with any Gust game in English.
